Wise Meats is a barbecue pop-up from chef Damon Wise in New York City.

The Story

Wise Meats was born from a desire to serve our community and safely cook comforting, satisfying food in the city we love. After being laid off in March 2020 like millions of hospitality workers in the time of COVID, industry veteran chef Damon Wise took his smoker to the streets of New York. Our pop ups are all outdoors and often in partnership with existing restaurants, and we abide by strict hygiene and cleanliness practices to keep ourselves and our guests safe.

The Food

Offerings change weekly and per pop up location, but our menus always feature smoked meats and seasonal vegetable sides. At some spots, food is offered for dine-in (outdoors, of course), and at other locations you can order for take out or delivery. Details and links are over on our events page. Some dishes you might find include brisket tacos, spicy smoked chicken, beef shortrib and lamb shoulder tostadas. Menus are also gluten free and highlight greenmarket vegetables. Call it non-traditional barbecue.
